Ignoring Your Passion is Slow Suicide

Ignoring your passion is slow suicide. Never ignore what your heart pumps for. You should be working at what you absolutely love every single day! If you are not all jacked up to get to work every day, then you are robbing yourself. We have a limited amount of time on this beautiful earth, it is your duty to enjoy every possible minute!

DON’T MAKE EXCUSES THAT CRUSH YOUR HAPPINESS!

Don’t make the excuse there is pressure from your parents to become a doctor when in your heart you would truly love to care for lions at a zoo. With all due respect, this is your life, not your parents, train the damn lions! Your parents will get over it! (And honestly, if they don’t get over it this is your life and it’s about your happiness!)

Don’t make the excuse that you will make less money in the career you want to go into. You can downsize your home, sell a second car that is not necessary, or stop going out to eat four times a week. There are always adjustments you can make to your lifestyle to facilitate a career choice that will make you truly happy.

Don’t make the excuse that you are too old to change careers! Colonial Sanders did not start KFC until he was in his 50’s! You can start your dream career at any time!

Don’t make the excuse that it will take too long to go to school, or that you will have to work two jobs, or it will take too much time! It took me 7 years to get achieve my dream of being a full time metal sculptor. At the time I decided I was going to be a sculptor I was dependent on welfare and food stamps to help me pay my bills, I was living in the projects, and I didn’t have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. I was hauling scrap metal and selling items on EBay to support my family. I scrimped and saved until I had enough money to pay for school, got hired at a local custom fabrication shop, worked there 3.5 years fixing my credit, bought a house, saved for 9 more months to buy the welders and plasma cutter I needed, and then worked full time at my job and part time welding art in my garage for another 1.5 years before I was to be able to realize my dream. So, don’t give me any bullshit excuses why you can’t!

Yes, the lion trainer gets much less money a year than a doctor, but can you put a price tag on happiness? Happiness effects every area of your life, including your family and your health. Don’t you deserve to be happy every damn day? If you are not working at a career that absolutely makes your heart sing, take one tiny step toward the career that will. Will you need to go to school? Find out what courses you will need. Will you need to live in a different city? Search property in the city you would need to live in. Will you need the support of a loved one? Talk to them.

Don’t make excuses that crush your happiness! Do whatever you need to do today to work towards the career that will make your heart sing! Your future self will thank you!
